About Me:

Hina Ashar is a seasoned engineering leader with over 25 years of experience in Silicon Valley driving enterprise product development across both large enterprises as well as early stage startups. She began her career as a software developer and advanced into executive leadership roles, where she has delivered several new products leveraging modern software and AI technologies. Hina has held leadership positions at companies such as HP (Hewlett Packard), Proofpoint, ArcSight, E8 Security (acquired by VMware), and more. In her last role, Hina served as Vice President of Engineering and AI at a legal tech company CS Disco [NYSE:LAW], where she led the development of a GenAI-based legal chatbot from inception—well ahead of Gen AI adoption in early 2023.

An entrepreneur at heart, Hina has played a pivotal role in scaling two cybersecurity startups, both of which were acquired for over $1.5 billion—including an IPO. Her leadership spans the full lifecycle, from early-stage teams of one to global organizations expanding product portfolios and driving revenue from $0 to $300M annually
Hina is also a committed mentor, having guided over 200 engineers throughout her career—many of whom now hold leadership roles or have founded their own companies.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s in Computer Engineering, and is an alumna of San José State University.
