The Silicon Valley SBDC is staffed with experienced leaders who assist SBDC clients grow and develop their businesses.
Dennis King serves as the Director for the SBDC Hispanic Satellite/ Silicon Valley and Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Silicon Valley and was educated at San Jose State University and Foothill College. Under his leadership a first of its kind pilot “SBDC Hispanic Satellite” center was founded in the Nation and earned Top Economic Impact awards in the Northern California Region. He has been active in U.S. politics on local, state and national levels. Dennis has worked in sales, marketing and communications for a number of startup companies in Silicon Valley. He was a general contractor and president of an energy conservation services company, and editor of a local regional magazine, a former marketing director and high tech editor of another local magazine, and contributing writer to other publications.
Chief Financial officer for the SBDC Hispanic Satellite/Silicon Valley also operates her own bookkeeping and financial services business. Lourdes brings a strong base of knowledge and experience in the areas of accounting, bookkeeping, marketing, management start-up, and business organizational culture. She loves to share financial management tools and teach Quickbooks to help small business get organized and bankable. Spanish/English.
Frank Cancilla is a commercial real estate Broker, property manager and business community leader. He currently serves as the president of the Berryesa Business association, where he advocates for small business and works on local economic development. Frank assist client with location search, Loans, and those in the restaurant industry.
Kimberly Daly holds a BS in Finance from DePaul University who is Socially adept, world traveled, with a deep understanding of other cultures. She provides quality leadership and coaching to keep her clients focused; and possess in-depth knowledge of the Entrepreneurial spirit and current economic climate. Business plan, lean manufacturing, business model development and women based business.
Seline is the Host of Comcast's long-running community television program, "California Scenes", which covers bay area events in the areas of business and technology. Seline also hosts "Pitch Globally", a "Shark Tank"-Style show where aspiring entrepreneurs pitch business ideas to prominent business leaders and venture capitalists for seed funding. She is the CEO and co-founder of red.matchup.com an early stage application. And serves as a small business development adviser.
Anita Garcia, owner of Momentus, Events by Design. She specializes in event management, planning, production and is a business generalist at the SBDC. Her career in event management has allowed her to produce events worldwide. Anita is a Certified Meeting Professional, and serves on a number of local boards. Anita has been with the SBDC since 2011. Mimi Hernández enjoys her role as a business advisor and education coordinator at the SBDC centers. Mimi holds LHP& C broker licenses and is certified as an insurance counselor. Her work with entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley entails general business advice, start-up processes, legal compliance, agency operations, customer relations, operations, and risk management. Mimi earned her AA in marketing and business administration at San Jose City College.
Alistair (Allie) Lopez
"Allie" is a well-experienced business professional that wears many hats. She has good knowledge of important aspects in the music industry which includes: music business law, talent management, promotions, artist development, venue/artist bookings and music production. Allie also has over 25 years of knowledge and experience in other business fields such as: leadership and personal development; financial literacy; property management; social media; marketing; and small business development and management. As a business advisor for SBDC, she will bring her knowledge and hard work to helping entrepreneurs develop and expand their businesses but most importantly pursue their passion while making an economic impact in their community.
Kevin is a financial planner and business consultant. Kevin is on the Board of Directors for the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce. He received the Business Advocate of the Year Award from the Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce, for helping Cupertino to approve the planned Apple construction and for his work with restaurant health inspection regulations. He was an Executive General Manager for TGI Fridays. Kevin managed single and multi-units and was involved in purchasing and service contracts. He sets up programs for Manager/Employee hiring development and established operation standards, building sales, and retaining customers, employees and managers.
Ranjani Mohana is a proven professional with a deep capacity to collaborate and build trust with diverse clients. She brings experience in Operations, Administration & Business Development to SBDC as well as strong leadership qualities, significant project management skills and conscientious communication. Ranjani assists businesses with the process of researching opportunities, obtaining certifications of all kinds as well as estimating bidding on contracts at a local, state and federal level.
Jessica Munoz’s full time work last year with the healthy corner store program and her family tradition of entrepreneurship has allowed her to develop experience in working with small businesses such as retail corner stores, restaurants, landscaping, and other construction businesses. She also has a strong passion for helping small start-ups with business growth and developing an online presence. Jessica is knowledgeable in Department of Environmental Health permitting and working with federal agencies such as WIC, EBT and SNAP. Jessica is completing her studies of business marketing at San Jose State University. English/Spanish.

Gabriel Plasencia obtained a B. S. from San Jose State University and embarked in a career as an insurance investigator of personal liability, property and worker’s compensation. He ran his insurance agency then moved to financial institutions such as, banks /credit unions, with an emphasis on personal & business accounts, credit and lending. His experience allows him share methods and techniques with products and services for managing risks in both new and established businesses. Carlos Reza has served as Director of Business Development and Worldwide Sales for several VC funded startups like BloomSky, Inc., (a hardware+app technology, and FundDreamer, (a crowdfunding platform). After completing an undergraduate degree in Economics at Stanford University, Carlos worked in corporate environments with companies like AIG and GMAC, building dynamic teams servicing large customer markets and territories. Carlos now enjoys helping startups and businesses scale to new heights.
As a small business owner he understands firsthand the rewards and struggles faced by entrepreneurs in the day to day operations of running your own business. Having opened and operated several cafeterias and family restaurants has given him the experience and knowledge to help others tackle some of the obstacles and frustration that are associated with opening a new restaurant. He has successfully passed countless inspections from the Santa Clara County Department of Environmental Health, and is familiarized with the California retail food code. Armando believes the resources that SBDC provides in conjunction with his many years of experience in the restaurant and food service industry will be extremely beneficial to the clients he serves.
Peter Sanchez has a wealth of experience in residential real estate, technology, education and banking. He is retired Manufacturing Engineer from Inter Corp and is the Co-Founder of a housing development non-profit. He has co-founded various businesses including Pacific Bay Capital Group, College Now, Friends of MESA and Silicon Valley Venture Partners. He is very active in the community and promotes entrepreneurship within his professional space of influence. Peter holds a BS in Industrial Technology, Electronics and International Business from San Jose State University.
